What version of BuddyPress are you running?
In reply to: Remove Link From Admin BarYou’ll need to hook into the filter in the bp_get_options_nav() function (located in /bp-core/bp-core-templatetags.php) to remove the “Change Avatar” link from the options nav.
View xprofile_setup_nav() (in bp-xprofile.php) as well.
In reply to: BP1.2.8 and the WP 3.1 Admin BarDid you read the link posted by Avi M?
The BuddyBar and the WP Admin bar are two separate things at the moment.
The WP admin bar was introduced in WP 3.1.
BP_DISABLE_ADMIN_BAR only disables the BuddyBar (contrary to the blog post on bpdevel.wordpress.com).
To disable the WP admin bar, you can simply add the following in your theme’s functions.php:
`add_filter( ‘show_admin_bar’, ‘__return_false’ );`In reply to: hidden group activity showing to publicYou should contact D. Cartwright about the Wiki component:
https://buddypress.org/community/members/Aekeron/What is already set? The WordPress timezone or your server’s timezone?
Your server’s timezone is different; get a system admin to verify that the server timezone is correct.
In reply to: BuddyPress bannersYou need to modify the topic template in your BuddyPress theme:
/groups/single/forum/topic.phpUnfortunately I can’t code the thing for you.
This thread can perhaps get you in the right direction:
https://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/the-forum-topics-second-posts-position/Gotcha.
Sounds like a timezone issue. Your server might need to be set to the correct timezone. Also try manually setting the timezone in the WordPress admin area:
https://codex.wordpress.org/Settings_General_SubPanelIn reply to: The Forum Topic’s Second Post’s PositionI’ve given you most of the snippet. It’s up to you to do the rest!
In reply to: bp_the_topic_last_poster_name() not working?That function name is a little misleading, as bp_the_topic_last_poster_name() only works within the forum loop on the forum directory.
You’ll have to write your own function to grab the last poster name in the topic loop try something like this in your theme’s functions.php:
`
function my_the_topic_last_poster_name() {
echo my_get_the_topic_last_poster_name();
}
function my_get_the_topic_last_poster_name() {
global $forum_template;if ( !$domain = bp_core_get_user_domain( $forum_template->topic->topic_last_poster ) )
return __( ‘Deleted User’, ‘buddypress’ );return apply_filters( ‘my_get_the_topic_last_poster_name’, ‘‘ . $forum_template->topic->topic_last_poster_name . ‘‘ );
}
`Then in your topic.php, add the following:
`
`There is no plugin for this currently.
A plugin would have to analyze a BP installation’s xprofile field data to do this.
BP 1.3 will provide greater facilities to build such a plugin with the addition of profile meta.—
Oh, and in the future, please don’t bump your own topic less than 24 hours when you started the topic.
Did you try repairing the wp_bp_activity table?
Looks like it’s using strings from the currently-in-development BP 1.3

Ping @boonebgorges.
In reply to: Buddypress Private Message attachements?There is no plugin available for this at the moment, but it is possible (like most things).
In reply to: Activity Permalink/URL functionYou need to pass the activity ID in bp_activity_get_permalink().
`bp_activity_get_permalink( bp_get_activity_id() )`
I skipped the part that said you moved your DB to a new server.
Make sure your wp-config.php has the correct information with regards to your DB host.
A good way to check if the activity component is working is to disable the sitewide activity widget and then use the regular activity form to post.
See if activity posting works then. If it doesn’t try repairing the wp_bp_activity_table in the DB.
In reply to: Activity Permalink/URL functionbp_activity_get_permalink() might help you there.
In reply to: Adding a Class to Activity stream postsEasy way is to modify `/activity/entry.php` in your child theme.
The other (and better) way — if you know your way around WordPress filters — is to hook into the “bp_get_activity_css_class” filter located in bp-activity-templatetags.php.
That’s a 3rd-party plugin by Buddydev.com:
http://buddydev.com/buddypress/buddypress-sitewide-activity-widget-for-buddypress-1-2-and-above/I’d recommend you post on their site to get support.
In reply to: Recent Post pluginPass the user id as the “item_id” parameter in bp_core_fetch_avatar().
This function is located in /bp-core/bp-core-avatars.php.
In reply to: Private replyAnything is possible, though that example is a little more specific.
You could do something with the topic template:
/groups/single/forum/topic.phpCheck if the post is not the first post in the topic, then check to see if that post is yours or not with `bp_get_the_topic_is_mine()`.
Hopefully that gives you a few hints to run with.
In reply to: How to create more fields in a group?No plugin exists for this at the moment.
This has to be manually coded. If you’re a plugin developer, check out this codex article:
https://codex.buddypress.org/developer-docs/group-extension-api/And also check out the groupmeta functions in /bp-groups.php.
There are a few threads about this on buddypress.org. I’d suggest doing a search on Google.
An example can be found here:

In reply to: Custom Language changes not showing@ericreynolds007 – After re-reading your post, I’ve found the root of your problem.
Rename buddypress-montclairvillagelive.mo to buddypress-en_US.mo.
Also make sure to upload buddypress-en_US.po as well.
This is possible, but it would have to be a custom-coded plugin as such a plugin doesn’t currently exist. Shouldn’t be too hard with a little usermeta and a settings page.
If you’re talking about custom colors for other elements apart from the body’s background-color, then I can foresee problems as each BuddyPress (child) theme could be customized to oblivion!
