Looks like so:

Remove both the background colors.
Change the text color to black.In In bb-base/style-buddypress.css:

Of all things needing attention on this site, that wasn’t one of them, lol.
But at least it’s a sign that things aren’t static.Try storing the role selected when registering in user_meta.
Then use that data to actually set the role via this hookbp_core_activated_user

If you only want to change a label or two, you can use functions. The tricky part is knowing which filter hooks to use: gettext or gettext_with_context.
In your case, you need both:
function example_gettext_with_context( $translated, $text, $context, $domain ) { if ( 'buddypress' !== $domain ) return $translated; switch ( $text ) { case 'Friends': return 'Contacts'; default: return $translated; } } add_filter( 'gettext_with_context', 'example_gettext_with_context', 11, 4 ); function example_gettext( $translated, $original_text, $domain ) { if ( 'buddypress' !== $domain ) return $translated; switch ( $original_text ) { case 'Friends <span class="%s">%s</span>'; return 'Contacts <span class="%s">%s</span>'; default: return $translated; } } add_filter( 'gettext', 'example_gettext', 10, 3 );In reply to: Would like read only no rights to create docsclosed – duplicate of this.
In reply to: Admin Area Turned to Persistent Blank PageWithout an error message, there isn’t much anyone can do to help you.
If your error log was 2GB per day, then you have a lot of other problems.Try turning on wp_debug.
In reply to: How to replace a core functionCongrats on the solution.
However, rather that recreate $recipients, you should be able to do a simple string operation on it. Something like:function manu_bp_message_thread_to( $recipients ) { $my_link = bp_core_get_userlink( bp_loggedin_user_id() ) . ','; $recipients = str_replace($my_link, '', $recipients); return $recipients; } add_filter('bp_message_thread_to', 'manu_bp_message_thread_to', 20, 1);In reply to: How to replace a core functionYou can’t overload a core BP function.
The function you’re referring to has a filter hook.
So in bp-custom.php, you could do this:function manu_bp_message_thread_to( $recipients ) { // $recipients is a comma-separated string of user links // for example: <a href="http://yoursite/members/manu/" title="Manu">Manu</a> // adjust as necessary and return return $recipients; } add_filter('bp_message_thread_to', 'manu_bp_message_thread_to', 20, 1);Please do not double post. Duplicate here.

$new_recipient = xprofile_get_field_data('Email for contact', bp_displayed_user_id(), $multi_format = 'comma');In reply to: BP 2.2 beta 2 member-type selectable by memberThe 3rd parameter won’t do anything.
To display the member type:
Create a template overload of this file:

and add this where you want it:$member_type = bp_get_member_type( bp_displayed_user_id() ); echo $member_type;In reply to: [Resolved] Send a copy of every message to adminTry this, replace the Bcc with your email:

In addition to deactivating other plugins, try switching to a WP theme like 2012.
And make sure that messages exist for the member you’re trying to view.BuddyPress encourages its users to find and report bugs.
And they are even happier when a bug report includes a fix!
If you have found a bug, please open a ticket on trac.Yes, that is a BP notice.
You should provide the versions of BP and WP that you are using.
