In reply to: Group creation settings blank
Just be clear – you have Group Creation – all users selected on
/wp-admin/admin.php?page=bp-settingsWhen you try to create a group, are you logged in an admin or some other role?
Try both.>I have tried with deaulft twenty ??? theme, and disabling ALL plugins – no change.
Do you have any code in plugins/bp-custom.php ?>2) I press continue and i am faced with blank under the settings tab
Do a view source on the page and see it the form is there but not visible for some reason.In reply to: Problems after upgrading to 2.1Users of BP need to realize that each update, especially major ones like BP 2.1, can create problems because other plugins have not yet been updated to take the BP changes into account. Which is why the use of a dev site is such a good idea.
But your issue existed prior to your updates.
It was very optimistic of you to think updates would solve it. 🙂I suggest you roll-back the updates and solve the GF Registration issues.
Gravity Forms has good user support, especially for paid addons.
I’d use that support to help solve the issues.In reply to: Create Competitions using BuddyPress[ @henrywright Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy – Unite! ]
I’m not aware of such a WP / BP site.
The plugins you mention re integration should provide a structure for you to get most of the way [ maybe all the way ] tp your goal.
It will be a lot of work.I suggest you set up a dev site and start experimenting.
Get a basic payments flow working first.
If you’re not a developer, you’ll need one at some point.In reply to: Create Competitions using BuddyPressLink fixed. Henry, you have the power!
In reply to: BP Better DirectoriesNo I cannot help you troubleshoot a plugin that is being re-written and is not finished.
You can either wait for the plugin to be finished or you’ll have to dive into the code yourself.In reply to: Members ListBP uses a timestamp called last_activity to track members.
If they have not logged in since you installed BP [ or since they registered or were added by a site admin ], they won’t show up in the members list because they do not have a last_activity timestamp.Did you show up in the BP members list?
If not, then there are other problems.If so, you can use this function to add a timestamp to each member.
Put it in bp-custom.php, load the site once and then delete the function.function add_activity_ts() { global $wpdb; foreach ( $wpdb->get_col( "SELECT ID FROM $wpdb->users" ) as $user_id ) { bp_update_user_last_activity( $user_id ); } } add_action('bp_init', 'add_activity_ts', 11);In reply to: BP Better DirectoriesThat plugin hasn’t been updated for over 2 years.
And provides warnings about usage.
And a lot has changed within BP since thenIt is being rewritten, but there is no deadline for completion.
https://github.com/boonebgorges/bp-better-directories/tree/1.0.xIn reply to: [Resolved] Members loop and custom profile fieldsAre you concerned about multiple calls to bp_member_profile_data() ?
When used in the members loop, all profile data is cached.
See function bp_get_member_profile_data() in
bp-members/ -> bp-members-template.phpYou can also use :
$profile_data = BP_XProfile_ProfileData::get_all_for_user( $user_id );
See the class in bp-xprofile/ -> bp-xprofile-classes.phpBut that is called in bp_member_profile_data(), so afaik there is no advantage to that approach in terms of db calls.
Unable to recreate that warning using BP 2.1 & WP 4.0
In reply to: Duplicate edit-profile groups>am deleting functions.php code like 100 lines at a time.
Seems like a rather coarse approach.
Does the child-theme have a file for /members/single/profile/edit.php ?
If so, delete it.
If that removes the issue, you know the problem is in that file.
If not, look for a hook re …profile… in functions.php and bp-custom.phpIn reply to: Duplicate edit-profile groupsIt sounds like a theme issue.
Are you using a custom template for profile edit?The fact that the 3rd group doesn’t exhibit the same behavior is a clue.
Try adding a fourth group and see if the 3rd group starts to also duplicate fields.In reply to: Hooking onto successful messagesMy guess is that there is some way to determine if the message being viewed was created by the same user_id as bp_loggedin_user_id()
In reply to: Hooking onto successful messagesLook at BP_Messages_Message class in bp-messages-classes.php
Try using the messages_message_before_save hook
function mm_mp_message_sent( $message ) { $mp = Mixpanel::getInstance("xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx"); $mp->identify( bp_loggedin_user_id() ); if ( empty( $message->thread_id ) ) $mp->track("new message"); else $mp->track("reply message"); } add_action('messages_message_before_save', 'mm_mp_message_sent', 1, 1);In reply to: [Resolved] Remove timestamp from activity feedCreate a template overload of this file:
buddypress\bp-templates\bp-legacy\buddypress\activity\entry.phpThen change
bp_activity_action();
to$args = array( 'no_timestamp' => true ) bp_activity_action( $args );In reply to: Filter activities by friends and groupsfrom the ticket: ‘ I changed the functions to use INNER JOIN instead…’
Please add a comment to the ticket showing the code after your changes.
Or even better, submit a patch on the ticket. Create the patch against trunk.In reply to: wp_enqueue_script issue on activity pageTry putting the function in bp-custom.php
In reply to: wp_enqueue_script issue on activity pageEither hook will work for the OP’s needs.
But the wp_enqueue_scripts hook would require a priority greater than the function used to enqueue the script in question. Hard to imagine that 100 wouldn’t suffice.My input was more about editing the WP codex and inadvertently introducing some confusion.
[I love that codex.]In reply to: wp_enqueue_script issue on activity pageDid henry’s original function it work for you?
If so, don’t bother changing it.@henrywright
afaik – The reason the codex page uses the wp_print_scripts hook is to insure that it runs after the wp_enqueue_scripts hook, regardless of priority.https://codex.wordpress.org/Plugin_API/Action_Reference
The deprecation Hugo mentions is re not using print_scripts to enqueue a script, which the OP is not trying to do.
So I’m not convinced that your change to the codex page is appropriate. If you decide to stick with your change, at least update the comments above the example function to reflect that change.In reply to: [Resolved] Alphabetical paginationAdd this to your theme/functions.php or plugins/bp-custom.php
// members loop - sort by last word in Name if type==alphabetical function alphabetize_by_last_name( $bp_user_query ) { if ( 'alphabetical' == $bp_user_query->query_vars['type'] ) $bp_user_query->uid_clauses['orderby'] = "ORDER BY substring_index(u.display_name, ' ', -1)"; } add_action ( 'bp_pre_user_query', 'alphabetize_by_last_name' );In reply to: [Resolved] Alphabetical paginationalso – try deactivating the BuddyPress Real Names plugin and see if that solves the pagination issue.
In reply to: [Resolved] Alphabetical paginationI see you are listing members in alphabetical order based on their last name.
That is not standard behavior.
How are you accomplishing that?>I can also report that the same bug is manifesting in the “My Favorites” and “Mentions” streams in the same way that it does in “My Groups” – only the word “replied” appears.
I cannot replicate those issues.
Re ‘My Groups’: Fixed. Thanks to @r-a-y
See: https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/attachment/ticket/5862/5862.01.patchHopefully it will make it into 2.1
