In reply to: Make Group Home the Forum
You could try creating a template overload of
buddypress\bp-templates\bp-legacy\buddypress\groups\single\home.phpAnd replace
<?php bp_get_options_nav(); ?>with whatever you want.
Before you do, grab the current nav output and then tweak it as you wish.In reply to: Displaying messageUse the filter in
function bp_has_message_threads
Found inbuddypress\bp-messages\bp-messages-template.phpapply_filters( 'bp_has_message_threads', $messages_template->has_threads(), $messages_template, $r );And remove the messages you don’t want to appear.
In reply to: Filter members for a Team PageYou’ll need an identifier re team members. A profile field could work.
You don’t say where the Team Page appears.
Unless you are explicitedly using the bp-default theme, always use files from
\buddypress\bp-templates\bp-legacy\buddypress\
in your child theme. If you have a conditional, you could edit
members-loop.php
Something like:<?php $is_team_page = true; // something that returns a boolean if ( $is_team_page ) $include = '&include=1,2,3,4'; else $include = ''; ?> <?php if ( bp_has_members( bp_ajax_querystring( 'members' ) . $include ) ) : ?>More info:
https://codex.buddypress.org/developer/loops-reference/the-members-loop/It won’t remove already-existing entries, but should prevent new ones from being created.
To prevent activity items being created for new registers and friendships, add this to your theme/functions.php or bp-custom.php
remove_action( 'bp_core_activated_user', 'bp_core_new_user_activity' ); remove_action( 'bp_register_activity_actions', 'friends_register_activity_actions' );In reply to: Unable to postDo you see an error message?
If so, what is it?In reply to: How to redirect after registration? You can put it in your theme or child-theme functions.php or in bp-custom.php.
In reply to: Back UpNo, you also need to backup the database.
In reply to: Remove items from the Activity Filter MenuIn reply to: Remove items from the Activity Filter MenuIf you remove a filter, you can’t use it.
Try:
function pauld_bp_get_activity_show_filters_options( $filters, $context ) { if ( 'activity' == $context ) { $remove_these = array('Friendships', 'New Members'); foreach ( $filters as $key => $val ) { if ( in_array( $val, $remove_these ) ) unset( $filters[ $key ] ); } } return $filters; }; add_filter( 'bp_get_activity_show_filters_options', 'pauld_bp_get_activity_show_filters_options', 20, 2 );In reply to: Remove items from the Activity Filter MenuUse the filter hook:
http://hookr.io/filters/bp_get_activity_show_filters_options/In reply to: Unable to bulk edit usersUnless they can point you to a reference about the ‘known error’, their comment is not very useful.
Trying to change user roles and user forum roles via
.../wp-admin/users.phpis not related to BP.
Can you change roles for one or two users?1400 users is not that many.
In reply to: making users profiles, forums and activity privateTo prevent indexing by google, you need one or more robots.txt files.
Re private – Have you tried this plugin ?
https://wordpress.org/plugins/bp-simple-private/In reply to: Unable to bulk edit usersthey say this is a known error
What is a ‘known error’?
400 Bad Request is a general error – not enough info to diagnose.
Turn on wp_debug.
Where exactly are you trying to bulk edit users?
In reply to: White Website with buddypress active PluginAs shown by the errors you posted, the problem is the ‘Fatal error’ related to the js_composer plugin.
Try deactivating that plugin. In reply to: Back UpYou mean backup the BP files?
That will just backup up those files.
Member data, comments are stored in the database.
Photos are stored in the wp_content/uploads directory. In reply to: phpMyAdminUse phpmyadmin to create a backup of the whole database.
Then delete any table that has _bp_ in its name.
Test – if there is a problem, restore the database. In reply to: extra field manipulation in members loopUse
bp_get_member_profile_data.
bp_member_profile_datawill echo the data rather than store it in your variable. In reply to: Trying to make new Activity tabIn reply to: buttons on profile – don’t do anything“Profile” is the parent tab.
“View” is a subnav tab for the parent tab.
If you are looking at your own profile, you should also see a subnav tab for ‘Edit’.Try switching momentarily to a WP theme like 2013 to see how it looks there.
In reply to: White Website with buddypress active PluginCheck your server’s error logs.
Turn on wp debug. In reply to: 500 Error when I install other pluginThe 500 error is very general and it is very difficult to diagnose based on that info alone.
I can activate the EWWW plugin on a BP site without a 500 error.
Google ‘wordpress plugin 500 error’ and try the suggestions.
You can also ask the authors of the EWWW plugin via their support forum. In reply to: Trying to make new Activity tabWhy do you have a ‘2’ in the accepted_args parameter?
add_action( 'bp_activity_type_tabs', 'bn_add_activity_tab', 1, 2 );Your function will add ‘hello’ on the Site-Wide Activity page – not a member page > activity.
To add a link to the Activity subnav on a member page, use
bp_core_new_subnav_item.In reply to: Link to users own profilePut this somewhere:
<a href="<?php echo bp_loggedin_user_domain(); ?>">My Profile</a>In reply to: Manually generating group activityTake a look at a row for a group update in the activity table in the database.
Note the values for
item_idandsecondary_item_id.
The former should be the group id.
