In reply to: @mentions only work sporadically
There’s been some chat on Slack about this, it’s being looked into and seems it’s not an isolated case.
Hi Mike,
It looks like we have repeated
'%s new',and if you remove that is should work. Are you able to give that a try?
In reply to: Private Content in Search ExceprtsThis is something I’m working on in the plugin I’m building as a result of this thread: https://buddypress.org/support/topic/disable-rss/
I already have the code to remove stuff from wp search in another plugin I have, I just need to put that into this new plugin and update it specifically for this task.
I should have some code in the next week.
In reply to: disable rssCurrently, I’ve got part of the solution, I can redirect all the bbPress feed links to a 404 or back to the originating page. However, I want to remove those links, and ideally stop the rss functions from being triggered. I did find some clues for that on friday when I last worked on it, and should be back working on it on Monday.
In reply to: disable rssI woke up thinking, don’t forget bbPress.
In reply to: disable rssYep could you create a new thread for this? It just means we keep to the same topic and it won’t confuse future viewers.
I’ve decided to write a new bp privacy plugin which makes all bbp, wp, and bp pages private, disables xml rpc and also rest, removes the rss links and aims to deal with all privacy issues in one plugin, with settings to give flexibility.
In reply to: URL page is blankcheck for a bp-custom.php file in your plugins directory, and check if you have anything in the themes functions.php file.
In reply to: URL page is blankIf it was me, I’d consider deleting those old tables from the database to BP can start again.
In reply to: URL page is blankDo you get any errors?
In reply to: URL page is blankNo, there should be options for three pages there.
In reply to: URL page is blankWhich URL page is that?
In reply to: disable rssHere’s another security/privacy related issue you may not be aware of – by default, the BP REST API is enabled, you might like to disable it:
add_filter( 'bp_rest_api_is_available', '__return_false' );In reply to: Buddypress and Elementor Conflict ConfirmedIf you don’t get the issue with astra, then it’s not an issue with BuddyPress, it’s Elementor that is the issue. That’s the reason why we ask you to try with another theme.
In reply to: disable rssThis is a very quick and dirty way to remove those feeds –
add_action( 'bp_init', 'disable_bp_activity_feeds' ); function disable_bp_activity_feeds() { remove_action( 'bp_actions', 'bp_activity_action_sitewide_feed' ); remove_action( 'bp_actions', 'bp_activity_action_personal_feed' ); remove_action( 'bp_actions', 'bp_activity_action_friends_feed' ); remove_action( 'bp_actions', 'bp_activity_action_my_groups_feed' ); remove_action( 'bp_actions', 'bp_activity_action_mentions_feed' ); remove_action( 'bp_actions', 'bp_activity_action_favorites_feed' ); }In reply to: disable rssActually that disable feeds does not work. I had some functions in my functions.php that made it work. I’ll just crack on with sorting that filter.
In reply to: disable rssok, the quick fix is to install – https://wordpress.org/plugins/disable-feeds-wp/
So long as this is set to redirect to the homepage (in settings>>Reading), then is will redirect all feed requests to the referring page.
However, those feeds are still being produced, and I have found a filter to disable them completely.
‘bp_is_action_variable’
I’ll see if I can come up with some code for this later.
In reply to: disable rssI think most people did not realise. I think I’ll need to fork that plugin, but I’ll look to solve this today.
In reply to: Toolbar submenu items not clickableThat’s interesting, I don’t have this issue myself as far as I can see. Certainly, using the Android “app” that I use, it’s fine. My theme does not touch the WordPress top=bar menu, as far as I can see. I use Graphene.
In reply to: bbp_get_user_profile_url issueThat’s not a BuddyPress function, it’s bbPress.
In reply to: user engagementyou could consider adding a chat facility like Wise Chat perhaps?
Like new posts to user notifications, if there is a lot of blogging.
Streamline the options you make available to users, complexity often puts people off.
In reply to: All pages has gone after slug resetI don’t do Youzify, they restrict what plugins they will support.
In reply to: All pages has gone after slug resetYes, let”s do that. I think this must be something to do with your theme template, since my theme does not have this issue and I do not think it’s anything to do with Buddypress.
It may be that your theme creator will not want to support Buddypress, but you should ask them. However, I have a suggestion for a workaround if they do not want to do this.
I also use a plugin to set a custom header per page, and this works on my BP sites.
In reply to: All pages has gone after slug resetI love psychology, I’ve a site for that myself
In reply to: All pages has gone after slug resetSo you are saying the header is missing? That blank area?
Also, your site seems very slow.
In reply to: All pages has gone after slug resetThanks! 🙂
What I can see is that the group menu option that you picked is pointing some odd post_type=buddypress url, which is wrong, it should simply point to https://yoursite.com/groups (or your translation of the word groups.
You can either try editing that menu item, or create a custom link to that URL. (yoursite, com should be your own site address).
Is that a psychology site you have there?
