a single interface for all posting on a site

  • Hi all,
I’m very new to BuddyPress and WordPress so hopefully I’m describing this correctly. Is there a way to have the posts members create in the BuddyPress activity stream also show up as a regular WordPress post on the site? I think what I mean is that I want one interface on the front end for all posting so that the user doesn’t have to go through the WordPress dashboard to create a post.
    Thanks!

Activity items are saved in a separate db table so they are completely disconnected from WordPress posts. The activity streams is meant more for quick short status updates.

… but I believe it works the other way… if they create a post it will show in their buddypress activity… tho I could be wrong on this.

WordPress as well as BuddyPress has little hooks that when certain actions are accomplished it will run a function. So BuddyPress as hooked in the the post hook and posts an activity update about that blog post. You probably could do the opposite but the activity update is missing some content a post would require, like the title as the activity update is just content.

Another issue would be to separate out what is considered a blog post and what is not on posting. I personally would not go this route because of user confusion. Look into using a separate post form for front end blog posting. There are many topics here about adding a front end blog posting form.
