Alternative to Wildcard Subdomains for a WordPress Network???

This is probably a stupid question, but I just have to ask. Is it possible to configure the WordPress Network (multiuser) without using the Wildcard Subdomain? I have the ability to create subdomains for my site, but I don’t have access to the server to update the httpd.conf file with the Server Alias setting – so I can’t properly configure wildcard subdomain functionality. I did here there is a workaround on a Windows server, but my site runs on a Linux server running Apache.

Have not heard of an alternative to using the wildcard for subdomain multisite. The best place to find out is at the multisite forums – https://wordpress.org/support/forum/multisite
