Would love for people to be able to attach images to a forum post on my website. Are their plans to integrate this into buddypress? or does anyone know of any plugins that offer this?

You can attach images to Sitewide Forums (bbPress plugin) via https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/gd-bbpress-attachments/

As for attachments for Group Forums, old plugin has not been updated for BP 1.5
