Auto install onto local machine problem, asks for FTP Username & password.

    I am trying to automatically download the Buddypress plugin into WordPress in localhost on my local machine at home.
    As well as ’Hostname: Localhost’ WordPress is also asking for ’FTP Username:’ and ’FTP password:’, which I believe is used for uploading to a public server and is obviously not required on a personal computer.
    Any suggestions on how to get round this would be welcome or have I done something wrong?

    If you’ve used XAMP/WAMP for your local install, look for a text file called (predictably) “passwords”. You’ll find the info you need there.
