I did upgrade and I see the message
Network Admin > BuddyPress > Forums Setup
bbPress files were not found. To install the forums component you must download a copy of bbPress and make sure it is in the folder: “wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-forums/bbpress/”

There is a problem with the way that wordpress.org created the zip file. We’re looking into it.
Thanks for looking into it.
Same problem. So I went to go get a copy @ bbpress now i got this
Warning: require_once(/home4/techtro2/public_html/wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-forums/bbpress/bb-includes/class.bb-query.php) [function.require-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home4/techtro2/public_html/wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-forums/bp-forums-bbpress.php on line 19Fatal error: require_once() [function.require]: Failed opening required ‘/home4/techtro2/public_html/wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-forums/bbpress/bb-includes/class.bb-query.php’ (include_path=’.:/usr/lib64/php:/usr/lib/php:/home4/techtro2/public_html/wp-content/plugins/mini-mail-dashboard-widget’) in /home4/techtro2/public_html/wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-forums/bp-forums-bbpress.php on line 19
yes, it wasn’t there, and now i lost my forums. even after copying the files back.
can you tell me if there’s a way to fix it?
if i go to forums i get a blank pageThere’s a dev working on it…
ok.
If you copied the files back over and it’s blank try to go back to admin >> buddypress >> forums set up and do a re install. Click the Use an existing bbPress installation button.
my website is thechillax.com so you can see what happen.
ok fix the white page of death by deleting bb-config now just to find out how to get the real bbpress.
@modemlooper i did that and still white.
@josh101 did you delete your bb-config to make it work?ok, did a fresh install and it seems the bbpress folder is missing. https://bbpress.org/download/
Place bbpress into bp-forums/bbpress
I would say, upgrading to WP 3.1 and BP 1.2.8 is risky for live installs. Some BP plugins will break.
Now I’m completely broken by this as well on my site on onesangha.org.
So, the fix that worked for me was:
1. Go to https://bbpress.org/download/ and download current bbpress zip or tar file.
2. Unzip or untar it, which will give you a “bbpress” directory
3. Ftp to your site. Rename bb-config.php to something else in your root directory.
4. go to “wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-forums/
5. In that directory, upload the bbpress directory (not the contents of it but the actual bbpress directory including its contents)
6. Rename bb-config.php back to bb-config.php in your root directory for your wordpress site
7. Go to *yoursite*/wp-admin/admin.php?page=bb-forums-setup
8. Tell it to reinstall bbpress using the existing file (and make sure it is pointing to the right path to find bb-config.php)This fixed my site and everything is working again.
Thanks for the step by step, albill. We’re still trying to straighten out the problems with the wordpress.org repository, and we’ll have a real fix soon. Sorry for the inconvenience, all.
thanks for jumping on this Boone
In case anyone unaware: The issue is corrected now and the zip contains requisite files.
Yup. Seems to be good now.
@cezar yes I did. It only remove the white part still errors. There saying its fix but I dont see the fix at all. No ware does it show an update.
That’s great news, how do I go ahead and implement the fix?
I downloaded the new buddypress zip and copied the bbpress folder to my ftp. After I reinstalled the forums component the /forums page is now showing but it’s broken, no adminbar and the css is not loading properly
Did I miss to copy any files or do I have to update any information inside any of the config files?regards
@linusf sorry for slow response missed you reply.
You don’t give much information about your setup, in theory it should have sufficed to up load the bbpress folder to the forums directory in buddypress as you did and you would have been good to go with an existing install or running a fresh install first, your issues tend to sound as though you have theme issues rather than issues with the forum/bbpress component. Are you running a custom theme rather than BP-default or bp child theme?
@hnla no worries, I’m just happy someone replies to my “newb” questions.
As it turns out it was my bp-custom file that messed up the forums. I will take a look on what i have put in there and if there’s anything of value to share.
regards
