    Hi everyone,

As I’m spending more and more time with BuddyPress and on the BP site, I come across many handy posts/tricks that are not widely known.. There are many knowledgeable people who are helping others solve their problems and I’ve seen and many original/creative ways to improve BuddyPress..

    Only in the last couple of days the I’ve seen people;

    – Implement lightbox/tooltips features in BP

    – Write custom loops to shorten the blog excerpts in the site activity widget

    – Explain how to display BP avatars on all blogs across the network

    – Release a theme based on the Thematic theme for BP

I think it would be a very good idea to extend this knowledge outside of the forums, and make a blog where all these tutorials/tricks and general BP goodies are categorized and archived.

BuddyPress really needs a good tutorial site where all this stuff can be found! I mean stuff like:

    – Tricks/Hacks

    – Plugins (reviews/announcements and in depth looks)

    – Design/Theming

    – Marketing tips and tricks

I am willing to set up the site, and I would like to do it fast (next week hopefully) but it would be best if we could get a small team together of people who would be willing to contribute to the site..

If you think you can provide good tutorials and are willing to help, please contact me, or reply in this topic..

    Greetings,

    Bowe

Good idea, Bowe. Funny enough, I secured bpuser.com with the idea of making a home for user level discussion (as opposed to developer) on implementing Buddypress. Not sure if I;ll ever do anything with it as I don’t want to re-invent the wheel, so to speak – but the need is there.

I’ve gone ahead with this, and already working on the site.. I am currently customizing a existing WP theme, so it should be online very soon.. I’ll keep you guys updated and in the meantime it would be really cool, if you start thinking about things you would like to see explained on the site.. If you have a Tutorial laying around (Andrea?) and would like to contribute.. please contact me!

Great to have so many people a board.. I’m not a programmer, so I will be mostly writing about marketing, tips and tricks, and re-explaining handy tips that I’ll find online (with the permission of the person who created it ofcourse).. So if I can get some bright minds a board who are willing to share some indepth BP knowledge it would be great.. With Xevo, Andrea and Brajesh who are already willing to help out, I think we could be on to something here!

    I’ll keep you guys updated!

    cool idea Bowe !

go ahead, but just do not spend too much time in creating a theme for it.

The most important thing is good and correct tutorials & content in regards to this.

Definitely, marketing-tips would be very valuable.

I will be using a pre-made WP theme, and modify some stuff..no need to re-invent the wheel here, since -like you said- content is more important.. That will be the main focus and not the looks (although we all love clean and nice design!)
