BuddyPress 1.6 Problems Please Help!!

  • I updated my buddypress plugin to1.6 and now its messing with my other widgets. When I deactivate the buddypress 1.6 then my other widgets starts working, but when I activate the plugin then the widgets will not move.
    I don’t understand because I have wordpress 3.4.1.

Also I’m seeing this as well in my back office: Don’t worry! We’ve moved the BuddyPress options into more convenient and easier to find locations. You’re seeing this page because you are running a legacy BuddyPress plugin which has not been updated.

i need this plugin in order to make a community out of it. HELP!!

@business31 You need to follow up with the plugin author to update the plugin to be compatible with BP 1.6.1. Which plugin is it?

    Hi mercime

Thanks for responding. The thing is this, I updated the plugin to 1.6. So the buddypress plugin is 1.6. That’s why i don’t understand why I was getting that legacy error because I had updated the plugin. I also uninstalled the plugin and installed it back as well and its still causing the same problem.

The legacy message is for backwards compatibility. It’s totally meant to be there in some situations, so it’s not a problem.

How exactly are the widgets “not working”?

The widgets just will not move period. The only way they move is when I deactivate the buddypress plugin 1.6

Do you know how to look at your web browser’s javascript error console? If so, please do this while on the (broken) widget screen and screenshot and/or copy-paste the error message.

    Hi Paul

I don’t know how to look a the javascript error. Also, i do not get any errors when I try to move the widgets or in the widget error.

You’re seeing that message because a BuddyPress-compatible plugin has not been updated. That BP-compatible plugin is not equal to the BuddyPress plugin itself. What BP/other plugins are activated in your installation?

    Hi mercime

The ones that are active are: bbPress 2.1.2, BP Profile Search 3.1, Buddypress 1.6.1,
The plugins that I have but are not active are: inhanced BuddyPress Widgets, Easy Albums – Buddypress .BuddyPress Google Plus, BuddyPress Twitter, BumpIn

Keep only BP and bbPress activated and deactivate BP Profile Search plugin then change to bp-default them and check if you can move and save widgets.

    Hi mercime

Ok I did what you told me and it work but me wanting a dating site I use Salutation Version 1.0 theme. So what do I need to do in order for it to work with the Salutation theme and use the bp profile search if I’m trying to create a dating site?

    @mercime

The plugin works with bp default theme, so the issue is compatibility with the Salutation theme. I know that some plugins have issues with Salutation. I suggest you contact theme author to resolve this issue.
