Buddypress avatars uploading with wrong permissions

  • I have just moved my site to Network Solutions shared hosting and I’m having some issues with uploaded avatars.

My avatars will upload fine and allow me to crop once uploaded, but once I hit confirm on the crop page, permissions are set incorrectly to 640 (instead of 644), thus forbidding public read access to the images.

How can I get my avatars to upload with the correct permissions? Both the avatars directory & it’s user subdirectories are all correctly set with 755 permissions.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

WP/BP versions? If multisite, is BP installed in main site or in subsite?
Did you install WP via Network Solutions webhost script or did you install WP manually i.e. via FTP? If webhost script, start from scratch and upload WP manually.

What about images uploaded via the wp-admin Media page?

Wordpress version 3.3.1 & Buddypress 1.5.5 not running MU. I attempted manually installing WordPress on my NS account but I was unable to get it working (was getting a database error, though I could connect and execute commands via MySQL Workbench CE and my wp-config.php file was correct). Therefore, I used the NS install script & dropped all the default tables / replaced with my data & replaced the files with my files.
All other uploaded images work fine–for example, the images uplaoded via the wp-admin media page.
