Buddypress on Sansation

  • Hello,
I want to create a profile system where contractors can go online, list their skills, availability and upload a picture. I then want users to be able to go online view contractor profiles, request contractors, and review the contractors after they use their service.

Protection of information is key (I will be taking a transaction fee so I don’t want contact info available), as is the users availability to comment and review on contractor, and contractor to provide information as well.

Best case I could also add “medals” to contractor profiles such as years with company and 10 positive reviews, etc.

Is this possible with Buddypress (I’m using Sansation theme)

    Thanks

@mgelblum Many things in your post are do-able with BuddyPress out-of-the-box and with additional customizations and plugins which are free and those which are paid for. And then it also depends on your server and your ability to go through with the project or might need to hire someone to do.

As for the Sansation theme, either add BuddyPress Template Pack or port Sansation design to your own BuddyPress Child Theme. Either way, you need to have HTML/CSS skills with knowledge of WP/BP template tags.

Thanks Mercime, can you elaborate on what features are available now and what are not?

Any direction as to how to get inexpensive support/wordpress developers or easy to use guides would also be appreciated.

    Thanks

@mgelblum For BuddyPress features out of the box, see home page of buddypress.org which lists the major features including Groups, Profiles, Forums, Members, etc. For general guide/info: Check out https://codex.buddypress.org/home/ and test features further by logging in at http://testbp.org/ using your username and password here.

“how to get inexpensive support/wordpress developers “
If you have luxury of time, learn more about WordPress and BuddyPress, create site yourself, then use forums of WordPress.org and BuddyPress.org if you encounter bumps or challenges along the way with specific questions – e.g. how do I get the rating system/review system like the ones bp.org plugin groups have in my site :-)

Not cheap, but reasonable prices from experienced developers who are competent professionals and who also help out in these forums
