BuddyPress registration not sending confirmation email

    Hi there,
I’m having an issue with BuddyPress registration.
When I create a new account I never get the confirmation email. But the member gets registered on the website. As admin I can see that member in the members menu. When I manually make that member active, I still can’t log in.

I have tried every single setting.
-Creating New Pages for Registration & Activation
-In setting I ticked: Anyone can join
-Deactivating all the plugins accept BuddyPress.
-Putting in PHP code to activate the email
    -Even tried WP Mail SMTP

WP Mail SMTP didn’t really help. Before using it I tried sending “reset password” to new member. It went through. When I used WP Mail SMTP the emails were going to spam. So the email address is all correct on my website.

I wasted 9 hours trying every single solution I was finding on internet and nothing work.
If you know a fix for this issue, please let me know.

Go to Dashboard > Emails > All Emails … find the email for “Activate Your Account” …make sure the “Situation” for that email is checked as “Recipient has registered for an account”

    Hi Michaelabf,

Thanks for trying to help. I already had that checked as well. Nothing seems to make it work.

Try installing the free plugin “Manage Notification E-mails” by Virgial Berveling.

Under Core Options > Options for emails to users, you will see option “New user notification to user” …set that as UNCHECKED, then test. If that doesn’t work, then try it as CHECKED.

That doesn’t seem to work either. I tried both options.

I’m getting confirmation email of the new user on my websites email. I can see the user under users.
But I’m not getting verification code and I can’t even activate the account manually.

Everything I try is not responding.

So the verification email is not getting sent out, to the user?

Yes, I only get the WordPress email saying that I have new registration.

    ok.
And when you go to Dashboard >Users >Manage Signups, and try to manually Activate, what happens exactly?

Nothing happens. I activate the account and save changes.
When I try to log in with the user it directs me to WordPress login page. When I try to login again. It tells me that the account doesn’t exist.

I just found out that I have 2 domains active. Don’t know why and how. Could that be creating the issue?

    Very possibly. You should investigate.

I just tried. I deleted the secondary domain. Still nothing. Everything is done correctly. I’m so confused why it’s not working.

Can your hosting provider assist with technical help?

Try a different mailer plugin, try Easy WP SMTP

I tried other mailer plugins. Nothing seems to work.

I will contact support again in the morning. I was told that the issue might be with BuddyPress. But it seems like something in WordPress is blocking it.

    Thanks for trying to help.

ok, hope you get it fixed.
You might also try raising the issue with Brajesh at BuddyDev.com, might offer advice.

    Just an update.
    It’s fixed now.

It wasn’t an issue with WordPress or BuddyPress. The issue was with the theme.
I’m using a theme called Arcane. When I was downloading the files. It kept giving me wrong license key. So I had to generate new license key of the Arcane’s websites. Now it works.

If anyone will read this in the future. Double check your Themes as well.

please can you tell me how you got your problem fixed through the theme ? i had the same problem and i downloaded the theme without problem , i went through all steps just like you, i still have the same problem

I’m not sure which theme you are using.
You should have a option Theme Activation.

It will give you option to paste a active license key. Or under the license key box. It should say something like. “Create a token to get new license key.”

You will need to be registered to that themes website where you purchased it from.
Once you click on generate token. It will give you option to check few boxes. Make sure you check all the boxes regarding the purchase on that theme.

After it will give you new key. Paste it in and save changes.

    Hope this helps.
