Burt (one of the other moderators here) and myself are both working on similar (but separate) projects, and I’m sure we’ll collaborate at one point to come up with a workable solution. Burt is much more knowledgeable on the backend subject of how these two speak to each other, so he’s the brains behind the operation. :)

Mine requires “deep integration” and Burt’s bbGroups plugin to work as expected, and in my opinion it shouldn’t be any other way right now.

To my knowledge there isn’t a bbPress/BuddyPress theme available for download yet, but it will be my pleasure to release mine once I have worked out all the kinks.

And what are the so called: “kinks” ?

I like my solution, I just built a general forum plugin, using the forum code from group forums and adopted it to work on a general level.

(disregard the large error, I have a ticket out for it, otherwise I need to hand edit a file everytime I do an update from svn)

I ment a theme for bbPress, so it looks more as BuddyPress does ;)

Felix, the kinks are that I have a few pages that need incorporating, and I’d like to find something better to do with the bbPress login, registration, and profile pages, like redirect them cleanly to the BuddyPress equivalent.

You can check out where it’s at right now at my live test platform but do me a favor and don’t register unless you’re actually a Honda del Sol owner. ;)

Note to self: Setup actual test platform soon. :D

I ment a bbPress theme, like the orange theme from BuddyPress ;-)

But as it isnt available, i re-think about uninstalling buddypress, and just go on with WPMU and bbPress …

No I understand, and I would certainly reshape my theme to match the orange one of BuddyPress also. Seamless integration is the goal.

Why inventing the wheel again ?! If it seems, that the creators of BuddyPress already have such ‘orange’ theme for bbPress ;-)

    John James Jacoby

    @johnjamesjacoby

They don’t. Not one that’s meant for BuddyPress anyhow.

Remember this website, while orange, isn’t using BuddyPress. :)

Take a look, at where youre writing in, it is still 100% bbPress ;-)

So, they have a theme for it in the same colors as buddypress ;)

    @johnjamesjacoby

I think we’re saying the same thing in two different ways. :)

Colors, yes. bbPress, yes. BuddyPress integration, No. ;)

I’ve deleted evrything, during the lack of good theme’s for both …

    And Seeya ;-)

I’ll jump on the wagon here – has there been any progress since this series of posts?

This support forum looks great, and as all I’m using is a modified buddypress theme whatever this site uses would be perfect.

Anything around that could do the job?

The prospect of starting from scratch isn’t something I’m particularly keen on to be honest.

Still no bbPress theme available, it’s a shame! :P

Remember guys (and I realize this is no excuse) but neither BuddyPress nor bbPress are even 1.0 yet. As soon as function calls and display functions are finalized and tweaked for a stable 1.0 release, you’ll see tons of themes and templates and frameworks.

The opportunity currently exists for anyone with the time and motivation to swoop in and start blasting out themes for both platforms, but they would do it knowing that they may have to go back and redo some things after 1.0 is out.

I think right now everyone is waiting for the ball to drop, because no one wants to do the same work twice. I’d love to release my bbPress theme, but I have 0 time to answer questions about it or support it, and that’s not fair to anyone either.

    Make sense?

    Lame excuse ;)

I came here because I want such a theme but a stable core, or a one click mu/bbpress/bp install is my first choice. Go for it!

So, themes by default for bbpress are not present till now?

    Ilya-

If you are asking about bbPress themes in general, then Google and you’ll see that there are a number of themes available for bbPress.

If you’re asking about specially customized BuddyPress-friendly bbPress themes, then the answer is as jjj points out above. With v1.0 of BuddyPress just released, theme designers are more than likely working hard at creating new, custom themes.

Once bbPress is publicly released in a stable version, I would imagine that some theme designers will create BuddyPress-friendly bbPress themes as well.

Remember, these are open source projects. The vast majority of the human resources poured into the community are done so for free. WordPress, BuddyPress, and bbPress all come with themes by default. It is up to the community to take those basic themes and create more flexible, powerful designs.

I am understand all this. But the answer will be short – is not present? It is a pity that I cannot make a forum similar to a forum of this site.

I now try to understand, can I do migration from phpbb3 community on buddypress engine. While the answer one – I can not.

But the project very interesting. It is more than possibilities on moderation and to improve integration with popular forums…

    Ilya,

I’m working on a project where i must integrate WPMU, buddypress and bbpress all together.

http://terafriu.com/forum/ is the forum page. I have modified the kakumei theme that came with bbpress. Changing the header and footer will go a long way. But it ultimatly depends on what you are trying to acheive. For the time being you’ll either have to create/modify your own.

Keep in mind that Buddypress is a fairly new application and we should be gratefull to get such an application for free! When the important stuff like bug fixes etc are resolved we will see tons of themes, just like WordPress.
