[Resolved] change "primary" field title

    Hi, I have set up some custom fields in the profile fields section. However, one I can’t get rid of or change its title is “nickname”. It says it’s primary and doesn’t offer any delete option. It does offer a n edit option and I do edit the title however it doesn’t change it. It still displays “nickname”. How can I go about changing this? Or at least change what is the primary field?

    Looks quite complex. Isn’t there an easier way to do it?

    @caspergrimaldi go to admin dashboard menu Users > Profile Fields
    Click on Edit Group Link
    change “Base” name to what you want

    Thanks but this isn’t the one I’m trying to change.
    If you go on the link you attach and look at the 1st picture on the right, it’s the “name, primary, required” one that i need to change because mine doesn’t say name (I wish it did). It says nickname :S

    @caspergrimaldi missed that. You can edit the Name of “Name (Primary)(Required)” field by clicking on the Edit link of that field.

    I mentioned I tried but it doesn’t take change in consideration. I don’t know why because I save it. Go away from the page. It doesn’t appear to have changed. But if I click on edit again, then it has indeed saved the title as I want it. It just isn’t displaying it.

    @caspergrimaldi What theme are you using? Change to Twenty Twelve theme and check if the name has changed.

    I’m using frisco for buddypress.
    Just tried the switch. Still no difference.
    Would it help you to have admin access? Or would it help for me to paste some php here?

    @caspergrimaldi I’ve changed/edited the Primary Field Name in two installations, one with custom BP Default Child theme and the other with Twenty Twenty Twelve theme and both are working fine. Try deactivating plugins one by one or batch by batch to check for conflict.

    Found the conflicting plugin. It was the “real name” one. All good now.
