Changed admin username ???

I changed user_login, user_nicename, display_name and user_url for the admin in the database. Now when I log into the main admin I dont have the buddypress admin bar and the main admin bar with all the options for the other blogs?

Also, on the new admin member page, and the login section it still says “admin” but the link goes to the correct page. I am assuming I need to change another field in the db?

I did find that for the name still displaying on the home page login section, I had to change the name admin in wp_bp_xprofile_data.

I still cant figure out why I can’t access the buddypress and main admin settings anymore?

when I go to site/wp-admin it redirects me to site/wp-admin/?c=1

I dont remember it doing that b4…

I deactivated all plugins, which got rid of the /?c=1 but still no super admin access

create a user, give him super admin privileges (site admin -> options -> site admins, test this is working, then delete admin out of database tbl wp_users.

The best way to change admin username is to create a new account as an admin and delete the old account

If you’re in MU, they absolutely have to be added to the Site Admins list under the Site Admin -> Options list. Since you did it in the db, you’ll also need to add the name in the site meta table.

@modemlooper’s suggestion works well. Admin is an admin and will have the same privileges.

I’m not familiar with the poster’s original question, but sometimes wordpress site owners will create a new admin account and delete the out-of-the-box admin to mitigate risk (thought minor) to the site.
