Creating a group

My site can create a group, however it is the process that it takes which doesn’t seem right and WILL upset my users.
stage 1 “Details” is no problem, I click next.
after stage 2 or stage 3, I click next and am taken back to stage 1.

The group is made, but the specifics have not been set up as part of the creation process.
If I go back to the group directory, I can see my group, enter into it and use it as anyone would normally.

What would be causing this “loop”?

stage 1 = details
stage 2 = settings
then I thought it was because of bp group blog, but I disbled that and tried again and the same thing happened.

ok – it’s because there is a problem with the forum setup.
at stage 2 (settings) there is the forum setup.
My buddypress does not seem to be making forums correctly and so is causing this problem in the group setup.
If I tru to creat a topic in an a group, it says

There was an error when creating the topic

If you know why, please let me know.

further investigation says that this is not the reason.
I have group blogs installed aswell and after this (stage 3) in the group setup, it return to step 1.
The group had been created and the forum was working.
