    You mean you’re on BP 1.7? If so, then the default style for the avatars in the widget area is not showing up in your theme. Site url?

    Think this has been covered in this trac ticket:

    Hi Guys,

    I have the same issue on my site http://fitnessblogger.net

    I am running BuddyPress 1.7 on a Multisite install WordPress 3.5.1 (Theme Novelti)

    I have had a quick look at the link provided by @hnla however i am a bit confused!!!

    I am a real BuddyPress Novice so can someone explain how I go about fixing this please 🙂

    I thank you in advance..

    Kind Regards

    James

    @fitnessblogger Add this to your theme’s stylesheet:

    `#sidebar .item-avatar img.avatar {
    float: left;
    margin: 0 10px 10px 0;
    width: 40px;
    height: auto;
    }`
