Demo site bp-groublog, bpcontents, bp-events, bp-invitefriends

Many people have asked me if they could see bp-groupblog in action. So I made a quick subdomain on one of my future sites :) Here you can test our plugin on a default theme, nothing has been altered from the one at the wp plugin repository.

Also you can test bpcontents which I ported and slightly enhanced to work with bp1.1 and up. Please test and report errors.

I had a large part in porting bp-events. Lately I have been to busy to keep up development, but the latest version can also be tested here. It seems to work fine for me for the most part (e.g. directory needs work).

Last but not least, I also ported bp-invitefriends a while back. I’m still in the process of adapting it for bp-default, so watch for this plugin to test a little later.

Currently I’m just showcasing them as I didn’t have time yet to package the ported plugins. The ported plugins will not be supported by me and will neither be submitted to wp plugin repository. If you need these plugins and wish to try them out, they are available. I offer these so the leg work does not have to be done twice.

You will have to create an account though, but if you really want to test the plugin you will be happy you did. Please feel free to comment good or bad, as a developer we grow thick skin :)

    Greetz,

    Marius

Thank you very much for your effort and help, Marius !

Curious to see how it looks with the new default BP-theme

Marius I also want to thank you for your help. You and Erwin are to be commended for bp-events which in my opinion should be a core BuddyPress function. I hope that all of the functions that were once in that plugin make there way back in. I also have the latest version running and it help smooth out some of the wonks with my theme.

Sounds good, but I can’t seem to find the invitefriends functionality anywhere! Is it not live yet?

Also, since we’re here, where’s the best place to get current versions of bp-events? I get dizzy every time I try…

bp-invitefriends is not activated yet, I still need to style it to match bp-defaut…I ported it over on a different theme. I probably just use the templates from the original and see how well they hold up.

As far as bp-events, I would suggest wp repository, that’s what I have installed on the Sandbox. I had set up a trac for it on my Dreamhost account, but they completely destroyed it while they “Upgraded” their services. I upgraded too and moved to HostGator, what a headache that was. In any case Erwin has setup a trac on his site I believe and he is continuing development.

My time is very limited, so I have to pick carefully what I do and not do. The basic strucure for bp-events works great and that was my intent to develop. With a bit of help from the community that plugin should reach a greater height.

By the way…I stopped by jobsee.kr. Great play on words and a nice design. I like the logo as well. So thumbs up.

I am just happy someone is working on bp-invitefriends!

@mariusooms – can you or are you adding functionality to include a custom message? I have modified the form that appears in the Invite page, but I don’t know how to take what someone types in and make it the body of the message. The bp-invitefriends that I am trying to use is the one from Giovanni Caputo, is that the plug-in you are working on?

    Hi Marius,

    a question related to BP-Events-plugin:

is the Events-plugin now running smoothly without any major bugs ? Will it work with the new BP 1.2 default-theme ?

I have checked the website of Erwin, but still not sure whether this plugin is fine to use in working-environments.

    Appreciate your feedback.

@Erich73, I think you will have to find or ascertain most of those answers yourself :)

The purpose of a demo site is for you to see if it holds up to the standard of what you think is ready to be used on a life server. Next step is to install it locally or on your own domain to dig deeper. In my opinion it is fine, since I don’t know about any major bugs. Do you find those same bugs on the demo site? Have you made an event there yet and tested for yourself? Have a try…some answers take some work from your own end, no pun intended.

Off course it will work with bp-events 1.2. It just requires a person and some time to style it. No core code needs adjusting, just the stylesheet afaik. If you now some css you are golden.
