Distorted avatar in bbpress

I recently integrated bbpress in my buddypress site and the avatars in the forums are terribly distorted. Anyone else having this problem or know of a solution?

Looks like you’ve fixed the issue as the avatar is square as expected. in FF, IE9, Chrome.

@mercime it is squared but extremely pixilated…
