does buddypress conflict with bbpress?

  • I’m trying to get both installed. It’s getting quite frustrating, and am wondering if I should forget buddypress and stick with the forum (can I add it in later?)

When installing buddypress (I had bbpress installed first), as I attempt to install forums, it appears to simply overwrite the bbpress forum. I can’t seem to simply make it a link from a wordpress page. How can this be done?

Also, activate and register pages don’t seem to work. I have tried deleting and reinstalling.
    Any help/leads are appreciated…

Which bbPress do you have installed? The stand-alone version (bbPress 1.1) or the plugin (bbPress 2.0.2)? Haven’t tried the stand-alone version with BuddyPress since 2 years ago, but the plugin version is working well in current BP install.

    The plug-in.
I feel like I might have a better chance getting things to work with a fresh install, but even after deleting and reinstalling, all the same settings are there.

You either need to create a page not called “forums” and map that to the BuddyPress Forums component in the set up, or change the name of the Forums slug name in the bbPress settings.
