Embed Facebook Plugin with Buddypress

Hi all. I am in the process of creating a large scale buddypress site which is heavily integrated with facebook. So far so good. However I am now looking for a solution to events for the site. Could anyone suggest plugins?
Also the real thing I want to do is this:
I would like to use this plugin http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/embed-facebook/ to allow users to add an event/forum/group post and when adding the facebook url of their event it embeds using the plugin above. I am about to start editing the plugin but I do not know how successful I will be. Anyone else have any ideas?
