    Hi

    I am looking for a plugin which would be more like a Google Docs. Currently I am using BuddyPress Docs. It is good but default is a Doc file. Couldnt create a spreadsheet. Also if files can be uploaded using the same plugin it would have been great. So I started using BP Group Documents. Its not working with BP 1.7. Also this plugin doesnt support sub-folder creation or multiple file upload.

    Thanks

    hi @sarathbabu_k,

    there is a brand new plugin out. BuddyDrive is a user oriented file manager. Works on every BP install. Each user manage his docs from his profile.

    Give a doc description, upload it with drap’n’drop, copy the doc link and insert it where you need.

    Allowed files types and storage space are defined by the site admin. User can link to single files or folders to his need.

    Hi !

    Actually BuddyDrive requires BuddyPress 1.7, so make sure to upgrade before trying to install and activate it.

    Thanks @chouf1 for your reply. This plugin is really cool. Exactly what I was looking for (Hopefully). Does this work along with Buddy Press Docs? i.e Is it possible to edit docs directly from the Drive? Just like Google Drive :-).

    @imath
    Yes, I have upgraded to 1.7. Installed this on my site on its look good. But I could see the upload option, create folder option? Not sure if this is a problem becoz of the themes I am using.

    I am using BP Nicey theme. I uninstalled BP template pack as mentioned in the plugins support page. Please help

    Exactly what I was looking forward.

    @imath
    I would like to translate the plugin into Portuguese for my project and for the community as a whole, how could I do that?

    Hi Renato, download poedit, then create a new catalog from buddydrive.pot and save it as buddydrive-xx_XX.po where xx_XX is the code for your language (https://codex.wordpress.org/WordPress_in_Your_Language#Portuguese_-_Portugu.C3.AAs) looks it’s pt_PT, then you can add a link here i’ll add it to WordPress repo.

    Thanks for your interest in this plugin.

    you said in your first postc: So I started using BP Group Documents. Its not working with BP 1.7.

    So, if you use BuddyDrive now, why would you use that plugin ?!!!

    Hi @chouf1,

    I am not using BP Group Documents any more. (It doesn’t work with BP 1.7 also). I was asking if documents can be edited on the fly. Buddy Drive helps store files. Can we create files? and edit them as needed?

    I know BuddyPress Docs is a plugin which helps create files and edit them inside a Group. But it doesnt allow file upload and file hierarchy. So only asked if these two plugins can be combined in some way. Hope I have made it clear.

    Thanks
    Sarath

    @espellcaste Thanks for your response. The Problem with Document Revisions is that it doesn’t have a front end. Thought I found the solution through buddydrive but I guess I need to wait until there is a upgrade for BuddyPress Docs OR when Buddy Drive gets super powerful.

    @sarathbabu_k,

    technically it is possible to make bp group documents and buddydrive working together. But you have to do it yourself. BuddyPres Docs is working with BP 1.7 (https://github.com/boonebgorges/buddypress-docs), BP Group Documents was developped for BP 1.5 and a later version was able to work with 1.6.x. This is version is no more usable with 1.7, unless someone wants to update it.

    But don’t expect that buddydrive will comme with more features. He’s intended to stay simple and used as a file MANAGER, not to became one day a file EDITOR
