Group Sponsorship?

    Hello community!

    Is there an easy way to add code so that Members can “Sponsor” a Group?

    Suppose a member builds a group and it has 10 people in it. Five of those 10 wish to “Sponsor” the Group, or just highlight it as being special for the community as a whole.

    I was envisioning that those five people could click a button somewhere on the Group page, and their names would appear as having “sponsored” the group.

    If X people sponsor it, some event is triggered (such as an Achievement or some community wide message).

    Is there an existing plug in that would handle this? Is this easy to do?

    No existing BP plugin that does exactly what you want. You could extend a membership plugin where “paid” members become “sponsors” of a certain group and then create a bridge from your plugin to the Achievements plugin. Easy to say, hard to do.

    Another way is to use a user role plugin create a sponsor role and then add a little user loop for that role in the groups html. You would have to manually change a user to ‘sponsor’ in the admin.

    Work backwards from your designs. If you need the list on a new group tab, build a group extension plugin.
