Groups, and adding users

    Is it possible for an Admin to add people to a group without their acknowledgment?

    I’d like to use the Groups functionality similar to how phpBB does, and have a hidden “registered users” group, a “moderators” group, an “admin” group, etc… These groups will then be allowed access to different areas of the site via their group based “permissions.” Does that make sense? It will make sorting out who can post to what Blog much easier also with the Community Blog plug in Burt’s made, and I think it would make sense to allow an Admin to have complete control rather than request control from a user.

    Somewhat agree, is there a feature request for something like this?

    Invite shouldn’t be possible without acknowledgment as those group members are then subject to posts, messages, etc. HOWEVER, admin should be able to invite any one to any group without being friends. The group functions isn’t exactly intuitive to people that aren’t savvy with the internet so being able to send members invites to appropriate groups to pull them along a little is a good idea.

    Certainly, privacy (and i’d argue that also means more fine-grain control over user permissions and access) is meant to be coming post-v1.0.

    It’s been a while since I fiddled with Groups but I don’t think administrator force-join is possible atm.

    Haha yeah I should have gone back and deleted this topic, as I answered my own question a while ago, haha! :D
