[Resolved] I "inherited" a Buddypress site, and I am lost

I am fairly familiar with WordPress, but I have assumed (read that as “been shanghaied into”) responsibility for a site with a Buddypress overlay, and I am totally lost. I am not a developer, and don’t have the time to become one. Is there some simple way for me to change the main landing page, for example, or to change other pages? I can’t find anything in the site that allows me to change these pages, and I need to do so. The previous owner is unable to participate in the changes.

== to change the main landing page, for example, or to change other pages = I can’t find anything in the site that allows me to change these pages=

You change/add Pages just the same way as you usually would for a regular WordPress page, from the wp-admin backend.

You know, that’s what I thought I could do. But even though I have logged into the wp-admin dashboard many times, I have never been able to find a place where I can change (for example) the landing page. The list of Pages under the Pages submenu does not show many of the pages I need to access and edit. Here is one page I would like to be able to edit, but cannot because it is not listed in the Pages submenu:

That’s an HTML page at root of your domain in server. Download, change and upload. Where’s the BuddyPress section?

To modify that index.html page via your wordpress admin, you will need to move wordpress into your root https://codex.wordpress.org/Moving_WordPress

    and delete index.html.

Or; you can use wordpress on that html page – see this – https://codex.wordpress.org/Integrating_WordPress_with_Your_Website
