How do I get the BuddyPress admin bar to show up?

I’ve been trying to figure out how to change settings so that I receive an email whenever anyone posts a new thread or a reply.

In reading on this support forum, I am finding out about a BuddyPress admin bar. I don’t have one that shows up. Can someone please let me know where I go in the settings to get the admin bar?

Dashboard Setting > BuddyPress > Settings — Main Settings – Toolbar – check “Show the toolbar to logged out users” and save.
