How do you create groups?!?!

  • @frostdawn

First off, I’m running BuddyPress 1.5.4. When looking at the left menu of the dashboard, under BuddyPress > Pages, I have created and designated a ‘User Groups’ page and can view it, where I can see the page perfectly. However, when I click the ‘Create a Group’ button, I get the following error:

    “Permission Denied
    Not Found / No Access
The page you are looking for either does not exist or you do not have the permissions to access it.”

Hard to believe being a site admin and the primary builder of the site that I don’t have access, so what gives? To further my confusion, I set group creation so that users could create groups for the site. And as an admin I still can’t create them? The URL indicated by hovering over the create button gives me “[my site]/groups/create”- that ‘create’ page doesn’t exist in my pages list. Am I supposed to create this page, and if so, what is the tag I’m supposed to provide the page to actually allow the creation of groups?

    Thanks

    edit- figured it out

What theme are you using? Have you done basic troubleshooting by changing to bp-default theme and deactivating all plugins except BuddyPress?

I had to create a ‘create’ subpage under groups in order for this to work.

You shouldn’t have to create any subpage at all.

If you’re using a WordPress theme which doesn’t include BuddyPress templates, you need to install and activate BP Template Pack plugin and go through the BP Compatibility process which will transfer all the required templates, CSS and JS needed to your active WP theme folder.
