How to change group avatar?
-
I can’t find menu that can edit group/change group avatar.
-
The groups component is limited right now, editing functionality is coming in the next version.
Has this been updated yet? I can’t wait to start changing the avatars!
it seems as though the avatar function is there but I get the following error:
“Upload Failed! Please check the permissions on the group avatar upload directory.”
what directory do I need to make writeable?
Mine works, but now I have a group admin that does not like her group avatar. There is no way that I can see without digging in code and files to change it. http://www.theodoremedia.com look for Grizzly Education group for the example given.
I’m getting the same permissions problem as maxaud after upgrading to 1.0b2. It would be helpful if there was some indication as to where the group avatars are saved to.
All avatars go to the main blog directory for uploads:
/wp-content/blogs.dir/1/files/
Then the folder structure after that is like files with date, etc. Just make sure the server has write access to that folder.

It is writeable by the server. Perhaps it’s missing a sub-directory that hasn’t been created if I just copy the 1.0b2 files over the last beta?
What’s the current state? Can you make it use the media catalog?
Also wondering this. Is there *supposed* to be a way to change a group avatar after it’s created?
Or does it require ftp access?

Says there’s supposed to be a place admins can change group avatars and do other things, but the functionality listed is nowhere to be found in the installation. What’s going on with this? If a user creates a group and doesn’t use their one chance to upload a group avatar there seems to be now way to change it.

As site admin click groups nav in your menu, then select the group in which you want to change its avatar. In the tabs below the group avatar select “Admin” then on the next page select “Avatar.” You should see the Upload and Delete avatar options. As a group admin click groups nav in your menu, then select the group in which you are an admin.

Wow, so sorry. Thanks. I’m very relieved it works after all.
hie guys, I thank all of you for all your endeavour to improve wordpress.
Is it possible to change the default group avarta to something else as default group’s avarta? Cause it isn’t nice to have the same default avarta both for member and group.
Thanks!Ciao! The current version of BuddyPress only has 3 tabs when you click on the group:
Visit|Edit|Delete.
No Admin.
Anywhere else I can look.Dear Judith,
see here
You can update it through the Group Admin menu in WordPress site itself but you must have upload Avatars ticked in the dashboard.
That’s not working for me. I have Upload Avatars checked but I don’t see “Admin” link under the group name. Anything else I need to check?
OK, my bad, I’ve found it now. Was looking in the WP admin, not group page.
