Not clear whether you couldn’t access wp-admin right after you installed BuddyPress or not. If so, if you can’t access wp-admin, deactivate BuddyPress via FTP/cpanel/etc. and rename the buddypress folder in wp-content/plugins/ to something like buddypress-xx

As for GoDaddy hosting, I have read many heartaches of people trying to install BuddyPress and/or go Multisite there with shared hosting or better.

Ok, got in via FTP. Renamed. Now the BP stuff doesn’t show – cool.

However, when I go to the wp-admin screen and log in succesfully, what happens is the page just refreshes. It’s interesting too because there is then a weird little box thing between the WordPress logo and the word username.

If I put in bad credentials, it just does the normal login error stuff.

I got in through a backdoor I guess. I used FTP to search the folders. I then went to wp-adminnetwork and then logged in, was able to remove buddypress. Was version 1.5.

Is there a way I can confirm compatibility of Buddypress with my theme before I re-attempt this? I’m not married to the theme, but i do need to find something better before I switch.
