HTML in header of group sub pages

in the header description of all of my groups on the subpages the discription is displayed with additional HTML, however it does not show in the groups home page.
on the home page, a description will read “test group”
While on all the subpages the description will read “<p>test group</p>”I want to remove the extra HTML text on all the subpages for all the groups on my website.
Can anyone help?
