This issue still is not resolved.
Many of my users say that they have a notification of a firend request.
But then at the end: no open requests there!
The same happens for new messages.

Hi Werny, I had similar issues when using plugin “Block, Suspend, Report” , now resolved.
You are using this , yes/no?
Well, so you say that this plugin causes this error?
I tested it a few months ago but then I deactivated it again.
But still I had this issues.

Werny, there was an issue with B-S-R letting users block friends & senders of pending friend-requests. But the friendship/pending-request was not automatically cancelled, which caused issues like those you are describing.
B-S-R have since corrected this issue.
If BSR is not activated on your site, that can’t be the problem.
Well as I told you: I had it a few months ago.
Then I deactived it beacuse I did not really like it.
But all users have pending requests they cannot respond to.
What should I do now?
The same happens to messages.
I use the better messages plugin.
It says you have unread messages, but in reality they are not there.

Within the BetterMessages plugin, there is the option to “Allow users to block other users”.
If checked, then uncheck and see if that helps.
This option is disabled in my Better Messages settings.

You have any other plugins active which give users any kind of blocking functionality?
Hi there,
I have noticed a few strange things that has happened in the past month. I keep scratching my head in circles because I am not sure what happened.
So, the friendship button : Members can send a request, but no one (not even me the Admin can accept). I also tried through Accepting Groups and they can send and accept. Did Buddy Press make a user role for this function? I have User Role installed.
Also, please view live link:

Where the profile nav bar is (slightly lowered from the profile pic)
First, I dunno how to change it, plus, a link Membership is there and hasn’t before.
And also why do I have /?v=ba43077c0ac9 At the end of every link?
I have taken all plug-ins which I do not use off. Still the same thing.
No other plugins!
I am afraid that the issue is because of the block/suspend/report plugin. I deactivated it after a while and also deleted it from the plugin list.
Maybe that also deleted also all the blocks of the different users?
But when I installed it again they should count again, or not?
What can we do here?

@werny, if you think the BSR plugin is somehow still causing the issue then please contact the developer for advice.
I found out now and fixed it.
Thanks guys for all your support

Werny, please post details of the solution/fix so that others can benefit if they are having similar issues.
I tried to activate the “WordPress Profile Synchronisation”
Its in the settings of Buddypress -> Options
After that all the pending friendship request are visibile again
@combinc We’ve got exactly the same issue. Do you have WooCommerce installed? Once we disabled the WooCommerce Core plugin the issue disappared.
We can see the same issue about the /?v=seriesofnumbersandletters being added at the end of urls but it doesn’t happen all the time… Not sure what this is about?
@combinc actually just found out the /?v= is added by WooCommerce when you have ‘user geolocation (page cache support) enabled. This doesn’t have anything to do with BuddyPress.
If you disable the user geolocation with page cache support it fixes the issue!
due to a bug in the BuddyPress plugin. The plugin is keeping track of the number of friend requests in the database, but it’s not displaying the correct number in the notification bar.
