@Mentions don’t seem to work?

    Using @mentions in any text box (posts, replies, messages, etc) completely fails to pop up an auto-complete box with member suggestions. From what I’ve seen, this is supposed to be an automatic feature of BuddyPress, but I ain’t got it.

    I can only assume that one of my plugins or theme customizations has disabled the feature? Can anyone help me out? It would be an extremely useful feature to have in the community I manage.

    Hey,
    If you assume it is one of your plugins or theme have you tried using one of the default themes or disabling plugins, and if that fixes re-enabling one by one?

    I actually just figured out today that @mentions are working on the Activity dialogs, but not on bbPress forum topic/reply dialogs or regular WP pages; is that the intended functionality?

    Running:

    • WordPress 5.3
    • Gutenberg 7.0.0
    • BuddyPress 5.1.0
    • bbPress 2.6.2

    I’m experiencing the same on my forums but unfortunately don’t have much time to investigate further right now. Might be worth opening a ticket on trac if those are the only plugins you currently have active.

    Same issue except my admin users can’t do @mentions either. I added my comments to your ticket @teknorah.

    @jqcaffeine Normal behavior. For bbPress use “bbp style pack” plugin to activate mentions.
    Gutenberg supports mentions.


    @teknorah     Your frontend editor has no support for mentions (ask plugin/theme developer)


    @sssv     No suggestions about your issue
