Ok fixed it by removing some custom buddy press code in the function.php file
…but now (only if logged in) I have a blank white page on site. This is some odd stuff.
Is there a backend way to uninstall Buddy press? If I just delete it in cpanel and the database will it go away?
> I don’t have a BP theme, although my theme support says it’s “buddy press compatible”

> then I deactivated buddy press and I get a white screen (if logged in)
Anybody? Bueller…. Buellerr…..
Haven’t I been trolled enough by this plugin? I just want it GONE
So Automattic owns this plugin? Why not dedicate some developers etc towards it, towards the support forums, towards making it look pretty, etc. I’ve never seen a plugin with such popularity be so neglected on 2017 standards.
Is there any other way to delete this plugin.
If I delete all the tables in mysql will it stop the white screen.
You’d think there’d be a more user friendly way to deactivate a plugin, or that updates would’ve been made to address this issue. My site shouldn’t BREAK from removing a plugin, period. This is a very sneaky way to have site owners keep your plugin. Like you “can’t leave the gang without getting beat up”. Do any of these UX things cross the developers minds or nah?
I am experiencing the same issue. Buddypress is consuming a large server resource and slow down our site but now there is no way to deactivate it
>there is no way to deactivate it
So you deactivated the plugin via the plugins screen in wp-admin?
What makes you think BuddyPress is still running?
Using ftp or a file manager, you can always change the buddypress folder name in the plugins directory. And WP will deactivate the plugin.
If you still think it is running, then it is code from: some other plugin, your theme, some custom code that was added to your site.
