New Registration Management – Newbies should have to Activate Accounts

I’m a bit confused..

I’ve setup BP on my single WP install, got it working fine. The BP install isn’t publised yet until I’m confident with everything.

My main problem is that if I enable “new users can register” from within WP-Settings and set the default role and member or as inactive, when someone signs up they can just do so and start using it.

Surely if the default role is inactive they should receive an activation email and then from there be able to activate their account to become a member?

Or am I missing something. Thanks

I have the same question on this particular issue too.

How to setup email activation for new user on single WP + buddypress, exactly like registrating with http://testbp.org/?

on wpmu it sends the activation email and on single wp it doesn’t. There might be a workaround for this and maybe a plugin.
