New user default role is… nothing

Hi everyone,

I have a WP Multi-site 4.6.2 with a BP 2.7.
I checked the new user role on wp-admin/network/site-settings.php?id=1 and wp-admin/network/site-settings.php?id=2 and it is correctly set to “ap_participant” (AnsPress Participant, if I try changing it to “author the same bug remains).

Yet there is a bug : every new user has no role (not even ‘contributor’).
How can I fix this ?

Hi,

you have to debug this. Deactivate all plugins and custom code and test your install with WP+BP and a Twenty theme only.

Once in this config, anything should work.
Then you reactivate your plugins one by one and last test will be with your theme. Doing so should help you to isolate a culprit.

ok thanks. FYI, I fixed this bug by using the plugin “User role Editor” 😉
