Noob Question – How to Import Users as Members?

Ok, so just installed BP into an existing site with loads of users.
When I view the Members list I am the only one shown.

How do I get the rest of the users to show up as BP Members?

hlna’s code uses the old method for storing last_activity.
It was appropriate when written, but is no longer valid.

It can easily be updated by following the instructions here re new API functions:
User last_activity data and BuddyPress 2.0
