Plugin could not be activated… WP 2.8.1

    Hi,

I’m a new member in Buddypress forums.

I just installed WordPress MU 2.8.1 for a social networking project I’m starting right now. It’s my third project with WordPress and Buddypress (really good web-software by the way).

After installing WP, the first thing I decided to install before starting to hook WP functionalities was Buddypress (v1.0.3). I did a site wide activation and here’s the message I received from WP:

“Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.”

But Buddypress is activated and seems to be working fine. All tables have been created in database. I’m just asking myself if I’m the only one getting this error… :)

Did you try moving the themes to their proper locations and then try reactivating?

This can happen to some people when they do not have the themes moved out from under the /buddypress/ directory. It happens to me each time I upgrade BP and do not move the themes. For most people, however, this does not cause any issues.

Also…from what I’ve seen in 2.8.1 you can use the ‘activate’ link instead of the ‘activeide site wide’ link and it will activate sitewide automatically without errors. Somehow it discovers it is a sitewide plugin. Double check however, to make sure it is truly activated sitewide on a case by case plugin.

Jeff is right…either way it will not cause any issues.

Sorry, I didn’t respond faster… I thought I would received an email when someone answer to me.

As soon as I arrive home I will try both suggestions.

But after that, I will update to WPMU 2.8.2 … so the problem will probably disappear.

    Thanks a lot. :)
