Plugin Release: BuddyPress Group Wikis

  • @aekeron

    Participant

I have released our BuddyPress Group Wiki plugin:

    http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/buddypress-group-wiki/

I’ve not had a chance to clean it up much so please consider it very much unstable at the moment.

For support I’ll try to keep an eye on this thread. If you want to test it without installing, try it out on http://namoo.co.uk. I also check that site regularly and am better able to monitor support requests/feature requests there.

This plugin is released under the GNU AGPL. Basically this means that you can use it for free and modify it however you like, as long as you provide those modifications for free to the WordPress community.

Does the plugin require WPMU or does it work with standard WP?

I got the error “Fatal error: Call to undefined function wpmu_create_blog()” on my WP 2.9.1 installation, so it seems to me that you need WPMU :(

Thanks alot for the wikiplugin. I can´t wait to play with it!

    Hi there,

This plugin does indeed require WPMU. I thought I’d added a note about that to the readme but I can’t see it. I’ll update it now :)

No problem. I would suggest mentioning the WPMU requirement on https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/buddypress-group-wiki/ as well. :)

Yeah, I’ve added it there. Sadly I can’t edit my first post in this thread anymore however :/

    Important update:

I missed some folder name changes in a couple of the includes (damn wordpress repository and it’s fancy “being organised” behaviour!).

As such, please download the plugin again. Alternatively, you can edit bp-groupwiki-main.php and do a find+replace on the following:

    FIND: ‘bp-groupwiki’

    REPLACE: ‘buddypress-group-wiki’

This should solve the following errors you may have ran into:

    1) No TinyMCE

    2) No CSS for wiki page layout

    3) Frontend page creation not working

Sorry for the hassle and thanks again to those that have provided feedback :)

Btw, this is another perfectly executed plugin release :p You’d have thought I would have learned from the group activity stream notifications plugin….

    Hey @D Cartwright :),

I’ve installed your amazing and unique plugin, it went throught till the point i want to visit the group wiki, i see the message: “You do not currently have access to view any of the wiki pages of this group.” and im the admin and the page is public. (http://myislamicblog.com/groups/forums/wiki)

Plus, in the group/wiki admin, where it says click the (+) picture to add a page, it doesnt do anything and im not able to add other pages.

    Any ideas??

    Thank you in advance.

@D Cartwright, I get the same “You do not currently have access to view any of the wiki pages of this group.” error even though I am the only member and the site admin. I can add pages, but can’t see them. I’m using wpmu 2.9.2 and Buddypress 1.2.2. Are there any know plugin conflicts?

    Hi everyone.

Apologies to anyone that has been waiting for fixes/responses. I have been bogged down at home and haven’t had a chance to be online much.

I have a fix in the works for the issues you are seeing. myislamicblog kindly allowed me deep access to his/her site and helped track down what was causing the problem. I will be releasing a cleaner/fixed version of the plugin next week.

I have a problem when I use both Goup Wiki and Group Forum Extras plugins. When I try to create a wiki, I’ve got a blank page. The “blog” is correctly created in the database, but nothing in the bp_groups_groupmeta table.

    WP MU 2.9.2

    BP 1.2.3

    Group Wiki 1.3

    Group Forum Extras 0.1.8

(I don’t know if it’s better to post here or in the Group Forum Extras’ thread. Sorry if it’s in the wrong place)

@D Cartwright thanks for a very much needed plugin. Unfortunately I haven’t been able to use it, for I have the same problem reported in previous entries. I am the administrator of groups and I cannot access the wiki. It says “You do not currently have access to view any of the wiki pages of this group.”

    Thanks for your help!

@aekeron @D Cartwright I’ve found the cause of the “You do not currently have access to view any of the wiki pages of this group” problem. It is the WPML plugin. Any ideas on how to make both plugins compatible?

    Thanks.

    Hi there,

Sorry if I’m being slow here – coffee hasn’t kicked in – but which plugin do mean? WPML isn’t ringing any bells atm.
