Possible to develop without showing buddy press to users?

    The WordPress site I’m working on want to use Buddy Press for forums. I’d like to develop and customize Buddy Press without this being visible to users.

    Is there a way to do this on a live site, something that maybe is only visible to an admin users.

    Varying degrees of privacy can be setup, but if something goes wrong it could cause issues for visitors or even bring the site down….

    Could you set up a sub domain and work on that? The files can then be copied and database duplicated…

    Alternatively, set up your localhost with apache, php and mysql for development work?
