I need to find a system that allows for post rating/karma for group forums.

I know many plugins like this exist for WP comments, but I’m not interested in blog comment rating. I need forum post rating.

There does seem to be a bbpress plugin called Reputation (Karma) for bbPress written by _ck_ (http://bbpress.org/plugins/topic/bb-reputation/). but it is no longer supported and does not yet work with BuddyPress.

If well implemented, this could be a great addition to buddypress. Any ideas out there about either plugins that could be modified, or directions/approaches to code it oneself.

There’s wp-answers https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-answers/ too, for rating comments on wordpress posts. It’s a rough plugin that lurches into Spanish now and again, and doesn’t work on buddypress forums. However, it might offer a few more clues on how to get there.

The other thing to do would be to look for a buddypress plugin https://buddypress.org/extend/plugins/ for forums that added some metadata to forum posts.

Please do report back if you make any progress – I’ll be interested to hear how it goes.

And if I make progress with my mailman <-> forum plugin, I’ll let you know how I went about adding metadata to, and manipulating, forum posts

@andrew_s1 Interesting, a mailmain-forum plugin. I’d be interested in that definitly. I’ll let you know how it goes with the forum post karma plugin. I might write a simple one myself or hire an experienced BP developer to do a nicer job.
