[Resolved] Buddypress adding default sidebar to pages – would like to choose other sidebar or make f
Hi Guys, how are ya?
I’m running wp 3.3.1 and the buddypress 1.5.4. It’s a new install.
My question is how can I choose which sidebars are shown on certain buddypress pages? Out of the box, it seems to be pulling my theme’s default sidebar and putting it everywhere.
Or, another option is can I remove the sidebar from some of the buddypress pages? My themes default page does not have a sidebar (it’s full width). Is it possible to do this on specific buddypress pages??
Thank you for your support guys!!
Your work is awesome and inspiring!
For example, you want to make all the Groups Directory Page (groups/index.php) and Members Directory Page (members/index.php) use Full Page Layouts, instead of using the replacement codes I posted in that thread …
At the top of those two files, change replacement to:
At the bottom of those two files, change replacement to
This didn’t appear to make a change. I edited the members/index.php, groups/index.php, and the /members/single/home.php files, uploaded them and the layout is the same on all 3 pages. Confused….
Maybe I wasn’t clear with the instruction. I checked your site and you haven’t changed the top and bottom areas of for example, the members directory page per my post above.
This is what your members/index.php should look like http://pastebin.com/ivQ5Nnhu
Note the first three lines (after page doc ? >) and the very last three lines of what I posted above – just like what I posted here. Since there’s no call for get_sidebar anywhere, the sidebar won’t show up.
thank you for your patience with this @mercime,
I’m confused as I just triple checked and I seem to have made all the adjustments you originally asked. I must be missing something.
Ok here is a copy of my members/index.php:
I’ve put it public_html/thegreatestgift/wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-themes/bp-default/members/index.php
The resulting page is here: http://irsu.co/thegreatestgift/members
It still has a sidebar… I’m not sure where I’ve gone off target…. confused.
And you are correct, the string “get_sidebar” is not found anywhere. Could something in another folder be at work?

Not there. You should replace the code with the sidebar you already had for members directory page per our work in the other topic. In other words, the code I posted in pastebin should be in wp-content/themes/insignio/members/index.php
ahhhh! thank you again, that was it : )
I appreciate it @mercime. I’ve really been learning alot from your help.
