Restrict Users to only that Group

I know you can create groups and add users to those groups. I was wondering if when adding a user to a specific group if they are able to see all users that are in the system (even if they are assigned to another group)? I don’t want a user in one group to see users from another group.

    So for example:
Group 1 contains User 1, User 2 and User 3
Group 2 contains User 4 and User 5

I don’t want any of the users in Group 1 to know that any of the users in Group 2 exist and vice versa. Is this how it works out of the box or if a user knows what they are doing can they see all the users listed on a page somewhere?

Thank you so much for your help in advance!

I ask because it looks like when I go into the members directory I don’t see any other member that’s in a hidden group listed:

    site.com/member-directory/

    Thanks!

In the members directory you will always be able to see all the members of the site. You won’t see their membership, or any of their activity, in a hidden group.

So a member that is in a private group and not a member of any other group can be seen in the members directory of the site? If so, is there a way to restrict this so that no one can see a complete list of members?

Also, I’ve created three private groups. As the Group Administrator of all three groups, when I look at the groups I see there are three groups but it doesn’t list them out which I think is strange since I’m the administrator. I go to the page that I’ve set as the default Group page in the settings.

    Thanks for your help!
