I actually downloaded that plugin and installed it, but it looked like it was intended to create some kind of links page? Did I misunderstand what it does?
I tried it and it seems glitchy. The links don’t show on the activity stream. They only show under “links”. And when I click “more” at the end of the preview, it takes me to some unformatted page.
Also, the preview thumbnail is just some generic avatar.
@drover if BP Links doesn’t work for you, then there’s no alternate plugin which does what you need at this time. You’d either have to create it yourself, wait for a developer to do so or hire a developer.
There is a plugin that can create the previews for links.

This is a really useful plugin, and gives similar abilities to facebook.
