Sitewide Tags Plugin and Duplicate BP Activity Stream events

This may be a WP forum question, so bear with me. I’m using the Sitewide Tags Plugin on a WP Network 3.0.5, BP 1.2.8 install. If you aren’t familiar with the plugin, it’s here: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wordpress-mu-sitewide-tags/ The tags blog publishes an activity stream event seconds after the initial blog event pops up in the activity stream (leaving a duplicate of every post in the BP activity stream).

Is there a way to eliminate the tags blog from the BP stream.

I’ve tried this: http://blog.etiviti.com/2010/05/buddypress-block-activity-stream-types-plugin/ along with the ugly hack mentioned in that blog post to block the tags blog from the activity stream via ID#, which broke things and forced me to re-create the tags blog (thanks for the “populate posts” feature). Thoughts?
