Streaming activity feed in a widget??

I apologise for my ignorance if this has already been discussed elsewhere
(I know people get really upset with this kinda thing)I just cant seem to find what i’m looking for! basically I stumbled across this…
http://buddypress.org/community/groups/buddypress-jquery-activity-stream-widget/Which appears to be the perfect solution to appear on my homepage! although it does not provide the ability to show more than one piece of activity! I find it hard to believe that no-one else out there hasn’t had a need for such a thing in the past?
To be clear what I am looking for is a twitter feed style widget capable of showing a list of say 5 pieces of activity information sourced from Buddypress.
Hopefully there is someone out there that can shed some light on this topic.
