Temporarily blocking a user, while keeping their data/network

I searched for a good while, but did not find this exact problem, or at least any method of solution so far. More questions seem to be about blocking spam signups, which is not an issue for us, as we dole out our logins upon request:)

I run a school site. In order for it to run well, we need to be able to block students who have been inappropriate, etc.. We do NOT, however, want to delete their profile, stream, follows, friends, etc.., since this would be super punitive. Right now though, neither the Capabilities Manager plugin nor the Admin “block spammer” option works for us. The CM actually doesn’t seem to do anything, and the “block spammer” removes all important traces of the user. From their perspective, it’s basically a delete and then a new account.

Is there a solution for this? This is huge for our site, and for anyone with students who must be allowed to fail and then try again, without dire consequences. thanks all for looking at this, and thx for all work on BP so far.

that should be a fairly simple plugin to write.. adding a suspended user role, and redirecting suspended user sign in / page access to preventing them contributing on the site.

If you don’t find an existing solution – you can advertise on the jobs board group on this site for a developer – it should only take an hour or so to build this capability.

BP verified user plugin. Hit the spam option. Then put it as not verified to reactivate account

    thx @rogercoathup

@Modemlooper thank you, but I’m confused, as your plugin page says “no longer supported”. I’m taking it that it’s actually supported, then, since you’re referring to it? again, thx

It will be supported, I just didn’t have time before to update. If you encounter any problems let me know and I will fix
