This one is resolved. Had to de-activate all plug-ins to get my save button back. About to set each one back. The list is long. Thanks.
@discdemo So which plugin/s “took away” your Save button? Just in case someone posts the same issue in the forums 🙂

Merci … A few moments ago, I logged onto another laptop into the site. I started checking some buddypress media settings and went to save and the save button was gone, again!
So, last night I hadn’t narrowed anything down, as I turned off a dozen or so in steps then back on, which gave me back my save button.
Today, i went through one by one with no joy. I had two updates sitting in the queue: one for BP groups extras plugin I believe, and the other for buddypress media. I did the updates and refreshed a screen I was using to test and the save button came back.
Verdict: Not certain, but a few buddypress updates in the queue, likely one of them … needed to be done; if not both. You have been with BP longer I am sure, so you likely have more to go on. This was my experience for this one. Hope it helps someone down the road!

UPDATE! Just activated “WP User Avatar”. It allowed me to save the new avatar.
Once saved, the Save button went away on multiple screens I checked.
I then DE-ACTIVATED and Save button came back.
